As per the information from the newspaper, the firm will justify the price hike by introducing new functionalities and modifications in the design of the gadgets. Apple aims to prevent a scenario where the price hike is viewed as a result of U.S. tariffs on products imported from China, where the majority of iPhones are manufactured, according to sources from the publication.

The US and China have consented to a 90-day mutual duty reduction. The 20% tariff on Chinese products, implemented by Washington earlier this year under the guise of fighting fentanyl supplies, continued to be in effect. In the meantime, the tariff enacted in response to China's actions will be lowered to 10 percent.

Trump excluded shipments of smartphones and certain electronics from the 125% retaliatory tariffs.

Previous reports indicated that Apple is planning several alterations to the upcoming series of iPhones set to launch in fall 2025, encompassing the devices' design and layout.

To alleviate the strain from the US-China trade dispute, CEO Tim Cook included product inventories in March this year, just ahead of US President Donald Trump's announcement of retaliatory tariffs on trading partners of Washington.
