Tesla files trademark applications for restaurants

U.S. electric car maker Tesla has filed three trademark applications that the company wants to use in restaurant services, according to a document on the website of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

In particular, according to the said information, at the end of May Tesla filed an application with the USPTO for the use of a logo in the form of a stylized letter "T" and two other variants of the logo "TESLA" for use in the restaurant business.

"The TESLA trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of restaurant services, pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services, and takeaway restaurant services," the application states. The document specifies that the application for registration of trademarks has been accepted for consideration, but it has not yet been submitted for examination.

As Bloomberg recalls in turn, Musk had spoken several years ago about his intention to open a snack bar in California. In 2018, for example, he tweeted that he planned to open a restaurant for vintage car, roller skate and rock music fans at a new gas station in Los Angeles.

In April this year, Musk wrote on Twitter that a new Tesla Supercharger gas station in Santa Monica, California, would soon have a 50s-style eatery and top 100 video clips.

US company Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 as a developer and manufacturer of electric cars and related technologies. The company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. In addition to electric cars, the company produces batteries and electric motors using its own technology and sells to other car companies, such as Toyota and Daimler.
