Over 97% of Chinese businesses are back to work

The resumption of production and the return of people to work in China in recent weeks has been quite active amid successes in combating the coronavirus epidemic. Business entities in China have resumed work by 97.6%, said Wang Bin of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC on Saturday.

"As of March 27, wholesale agricultural markets resumed operations by 99.4%, business entities resumed operations by 97.6%, the volume of transactions increased by 50% compared to early February," said Wang Bin.

He also noted that large chain supermarkets and convenience stores resumed operation by 99.5% and 95.4%, respectively, while all existing e-commerce platforms in the country have been operating for a long time, and 84.5% of stores and sellers registered on these platforms are back to work.

Catering and hospitality enterprises resumed work at 80% and 60%.

On March 11, The World Health Organization announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 600,000 people have already infected in the world, over 23,000 died.
