The release indicates that the choice regarding the settlement agreement is open to appeal. As the decision from May 9, 2025, is still not in effect, the cantonal court refrains from offering any further details regarding the moratorium process for restructuring Nord Stream 2 AG's debt.
The Nord Stream 2 offshore pipeline has a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters annually and extends from the Slavyanskaya compressor station in the Kingisepp area of Russia's Leningrad region to Germany's Baltic coast.
The German government halted the certification procedure for the pipeline, while the United States added the Nord Stream 2 AG project firm to its sanctions list.
Both sections of the pipeline were packed with gas and readied for use. One of the pipeline sections was harmed by strong blasts in 2022.
In early 2025, the Danish Energy Agency granted permission to Nord Stream 2 AG, a Swiss branch of Russian energy company Gazprom, to conduct preservation activities on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the Baltic Sea.
