The helicopter carrying Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Raisi crashed in the the country's northwest, according to earlier reports from Iranian media. Search and rescue teams have reached the scene of the incident.

Israeli officials are not discussing the issue officially.

The news portal published unauthorized quotes from Israeli authorities who maintain that the Iranian leader "did not survive." They say the West thinks the same way.

The unidentified Israeli officials continued by saying that Tehran's approach would vary depending on Raisi's successor as the head of the Islamic republic if he dies.
