The economic loss was 41.9% lower compared to the previous year (93.16 billion yuan).

The primary harm (51 billion yuan, or 90% of total losses) to the Chinese economy resulted from flooding. The quake in Tibet and the landslides in the southwestern regions were equally destructive occurrences.

The ministry stated that over the last six months, natural disasters impacted over 23 million individuals, resulting in 307 fatalities or missing persons and 620 thousand evacuations. 29.6 thousand homes were ruined, and agricultural fields spanning 2.19 million hectares were harmed.

The ministry alerted about a challenging scenario from mid-July to early August because of heavy rainfall in northern China and typhoon occurrences.
