Trump informed reporters late Friday while on the presidential plane that approximately twelve letters would be dispatched on Monday.

The newspaper indicates that the U.S. leader did not clarify which nations would get the letters or what rates would be established.

On Thursday, Trump stated that the rates mentioned in the letters would be implemented on August 1, and cautioned that some could rise to 70%, Axios notes.

On April 2, the U.S. President increased tariffs on products from 185 nations, but a week later paused the charges for 90 days - until July 9. Three trade pacts were finalized in 85 days - with the United Kingdom, China, and Vietnam.
