Ortberg mentioned in April that shipments were stopped at the urging of Beijing.
Reports indicated that Chinese officials instructed local airlines to cease accepting Boeing aircraft because of the trade conflict initiated by Washington. Ortberg, quoted by CNBC, stated, “China has now confirmed it will accept deliveries. The initial deliveries are expected in the next month.”
He affirmed that Boeing aims to boost production of its most sought-after 737 Max aircraft this year, necessitating approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Boeing manufactures 38 of these aircraft monthly, and the FAA prevented it from increasing production following an event in January 2024 with an Alaska Airlines jet that lost a door during flight.
Ortberg mentioned Boeing might ramp up its 737 Max airplane production to 42 per month by mid-year and 47 per month by year-end.
