American iPhone owners have received an opportunity to claim up to $500 in compensation from Apple for settlement of a dispute related to the slow operation of the smartphones. A separate website was created for those wishing to demand money.

In March, Apple agreed to pay up to $ 500 million to settle a dispute in which the company was accused of deliberately slowing down older versions of iPhones in order to force users to update the device or the battery installed in it. Users claimed that quality of their smartphones deteriorated after installing updates. Apple, on the other hand, associated problems with influence of changing temperatures or active use of devices.

As a result, the company did not admit that it was doing something unlawful, and officially agreed to pay compensation in order to avoid the need to spend money on continuing the proceedings. The scandal surrounding the iPhone was so massive that it even got the name Batterygate.
