Walmart posted its financial results, revealing that its total revenue for the fiscal year ending on January 31 was $713.2 billion. Amazon earlier announced its annual revenue for the year 2025 as $716.9 billion. Walmart's revenue increased by 4.7 percent, whereas Amazon's revenue rose by 12.4 percent.
According to PYMNTS Intelligence, Amazon makes up about 9% of total retail sales in the United States, whereas Walmart's share is around 7.6%.
Since 2001, Walmart has been the top company in terms of annual revenue, after it surpassed Exxon Mobil, which is a major oil producer.
Amazon was established in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online bookstore. The company has since developed into a major player in online retail, cloud services, and AI technology. Amazon creates its own electronic gadgets, clothing, and food items, operates a streaming platform, and makes movies and television shows.
