These actions are designed to enhance Visa's operational effectiveness amidst intense rivalry in the payment services sector.

"I firmly believe we are taking the correct steps for Visa, our customers, and our partners by persistently aiming to enhance the performance of the whole company, allowing us to reinvest in the sectors with the greatest potential," McInerney stated, emphasizing the importance of readying Visa for new opportunities brought about by technological progress, such as artificial intelligence.

The reductions will mainly impact tech divisions and product development teams.
