Sanctions have been placed on seven companies engaged in the trade of Iranian petroleum and petrochemical goods, along with two vessels.

“The President of the United States, in line with a maximum pressure strategy, is dedicated to eliminating Iran's illegal exports of oil and petrochemical products, including those to China,” the State Department said. “As long as Iran seeks to earn money from selling oil and petrochemical products to support its destabilizing actions and its proxies, the United States will act to hold both Iran and all of its partners evading sanctions responsible.”

Oman, which is facilitating the negotiations, stated that the indirect discussions between Iran and the US have been delayed due to conflicting schedules of the delegations.

"Due to logistical concerns, we have postponed the meeting between the US and Iran that was initially set for May 3," wrote Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi on social media.

He stated, “new dates will be revealed once both parties come to an agreement.”

Indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S. commenced in mid-April.
