Number of billionaires worldwide reaches record 3,800 people

According to the Altrata Billionaire Census study, the number of billionaires globally rose by 8.2% in 2025, reaching an all-time high of 3,795.

The United States, which hosts nearly one-third of the world's billionaires—1,265—ranked first by a significant margin. This figure rose by 11.5% in 2024.

China ranked second with 363 billionaires (+13.1%), while Germany took third place with 221 individuals on the list (+20.1%). Germany exhibited the highest growth among the leading 15 nations.

The combined wealth of billionaires rose 12.8% to an all-time high of $15.1 trillion. The 29 wealthiest individuals in the world represent 27% of the overall billionaire wealth, increasing from 7% in 2017.

Analysts have pinpointed the surge in artificial intelligence funding as a primary factor for growth this year.
