Turkish Airlines might forgo its recently placed order for Boeing Co.'s 737 MAX planes and opt for Airbus aircraft if talks with engine supplier CFM International do not succeed, Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the airline's board, informed Reuters.

CFM is the exclusive provider of engines for the Boeing 737 MAX. The company is also vying with RTX and Pratt & Whitney for airline contracts related to the Airbus A320neo.

"Bolat stated that if CFM consents to reasonable financial conditions, a contract will be finalized with Boeing." He noted that discussions have advanced somewhat, yet price disputes persist.

Bolat stated that if CFM maintains its stance, the airline will transition to Airbus: "Airbus gives us an option."

In September, Turkish Airlines declared its plan to acquire up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX planes, potentially marking the largest individual order for single-aisle jets in Boeing's history. The order is linked to finalizing an agreement with CFM.
