Dubai real estate developer Emaar Properties unveiled plans to build a new skyscraper. The new building is intended to rise higher than the world-famous "Burj Khalifa", height of 829.8 meters. At a presentation of the new project held on Sunday, chairman of Emaar Properties, Mohamed Alabbar told that the new skyscraper’s project, which is so far called "The Tower", has been designed by Santiago Calatrava Valls, the famous architect. The structure of its lines is reminiscent of lily flower and minaret. Mr. Alabbar almost omitted technical details, saying "The height of the tower will be pronounced, perhaps, even when we build and open it. However, it will be a little higher than "Burj Khalifa", - he said.

"Burj Khalifa" skyscraper, also constructed by Emaar Properties, was built in 2009; its height is 829.8 meters. Now, the building holds palm among the tallest buildings in the world. Regarding the timing of construction, Mr. Alabbar said that the tower will have been built by the opening of the World Expo 2020, which will be held in Dubai. According to him, "this tower will be a place where you can come, get a lot of impressions and enjoy life."

In contrast to the "Burj Dubai", the new tower will not be a residential complex. The building will consist of a hotel and rest areas, many floors will have observation decks overlooking the picturesque bay of Dubai Creek and its nature reserve, which is a home for different birds, including flamingos.

As expected in Emaar Properties, the new project will stimulate Dubai's weakened real estate market, which was revived after the collapse of 2009. Thus, opening of "Burj Khalifa" in 2010 had helped revitalize a neighborhood in downtown Dubai, which is now considered the most prestigious in the city.

Another company, Meydan, is now building new residential complex Meydan One in Dubai's. Part the building will be the highest residential skyscraper in the world. The skyscraper’s height will be 711 meters, which is second after "Burj Khalifa". It also will house the world's highest observation deck - at a height of 655 meters - and a restaurant (675 m). Earlier, it was expected that the tallest residential skyscraper in the world will be the World One in Mumbai, India, the construction of which will be completed this year. Its height is 442 m.

The skyscraper in Meydan One will house 855 apartments, a total complex will be designed for more than 78 thousand residents. The complex’s area will be about 500 hectares. A sports complex with an area of 25 thousand sq. will also be built within Meydan One. The area will include the longest (1.2 km) ski slope in the world. The ambitious project will also feature world's tallest fountain 420 meters high.

The construction plan has been approved by the Emir of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The cost of construction is estimated at 25 billion dirhams ($ 6.9 billion). It is expected that the first phase of construction, including the tower, will be completed by 2020.
