The figure is significantly higher than last year, when the US received about 50.3% of iPhones manufactured in India, and reflects Apple's efforts to circumvent high U.S. tariffs imposed on China, the newspaper noted.

The total value of iPhones that Foxconn shipped from India to the States for March, April and May is $3.2 billion. Shipments for May alone are valued at $1 billion, the amount was the second highest on the record list. The leader so far remains March, when $1.3 billion worth of iPhones were delivered to America.

Overall, Foxconn shipped $4.4 billion worth of smartphones to the U.S. between January and May this year, with the value of iPhones shipped from India to the States for the entire year 2024 estimated at $3.7 billion.

These figures are disclosed for the first time and reflect a shift in Apple's Indian exports almost entirely to the U.S. market, Reuters emphasized. Earlier, the company's smartphones from India were also widely shipped to the Netherlands, Czech Republic and the UK. The agency contacted the companies, but Apple declined to comment on the information and Foxconn did not respond to the request.

According to customs data, India's smaller iPhone supplier Tata Electronics shipped nearly 86% of its products to the States in March and April. Data for May is not available, the agency added.
