Early in November, it was revealed that TSMC will invest $12 billion to increase production at its current Arizona factory.
The business noted in its release today that the Arizona facility is presently "getting ready to start producing chips utilizing the N4 process as early as 2024, and will start creating even more sophisticated 3nm devices beginning in 2026."
The investment will become one of the largest single foreign direct investments in American history. The company noted that in addition to the 10,000 jobs previously planned, the expansion would create 10,000 jobs more.
The expanded investment was revealed just before today's visit by Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and U.S. President Joseph Biden.
