A court in Milan has decided that the brand will be subjected to external oversight for one year to tackle supply chain violations. Should all legal obligations be fulfilled by the conclusion of the 12-month timeframe, the decision will be reversed more quickly.
Loro Piana is a luxury brand known for its wool and cashmere. The firm has delegated part of its apparel manufacturing to Evergreen Fashion Group, which is owned by Chinese proprietors.
The court ruling states that the garments were made under conditions of exploitative labor.
LVMH purchased the Loro Piana brand in 2013, and in March 2025, Frédéric Arnault, the founder's son from the French group, was named its leader.
Loro Piana has become the fifth fashion label in Italy to be subjected to judicial oversight in the past 18 months due to labor infractions, as reported by the FT. Prosecutors in Milan have been looking into the supply chains of apparel manufacturers for several years following journalistic inquiries that uncovered multiple instances of labor law violations at various Chinese-owned firms located in Lombardy and Tuscany.
Dior, Armani, Alviero Martini, and Valentino have encountered comparable limitations before.
