KOGAS struck an agreement with international energy providers such as Trafigura during a meeting of South Korean and U.S. business executives in Washington.
The agreement was finalized after a competitive procedure that started in 2024, enabling KOGAS to broaden its import sources, primarily situated in the Middle East.
According to company representatives, Yonhap reported that the LNG will be sourced from Cheniere facilities in Texas and additional areas.
In July, Seoul committed to purchasing $100 billion in U.S.
