President Joe Biden has personally intervened to remedy the newborn formula crisis, promising to remove bureaucratic barriers to increase supply and threatening speculators.

The shortfall of formula is estimated to be 40-50 percent, big merchants have begun rationing single-handed supplies, and the political establishment is discussing whether American kids should be prioritized before those of illegal migrants.

"Today, President Biden met with leaders from retailers and manufacturers, including Wal-Mart, Target, Reckitt and Gerber, to examine ways to collaborate to help families find access to infant formula," the White House stated.

A February recall of significant batches of formula prompted the shortage when inspectors feared Abbott's production line was infected with harmful microorganisms.

Following the meeting, Biden promised to simplify bureaucratic procedures for allowing newborn formula into stores, increase imports, and crack down on speculators who resale infant formula online for hundreds of times the retail price.
