The message stated that Shell had been chosen by Qatar Energy as its second partner to develop the North Field South field with a 9.3 percent ownership.
According to a September report from QNA, Qatar's first project partner was France's Total Energies, which held a 9.375% stake while Qatar Energy held the remainder. Later, the project would include three additional new foreign partners, according to Qatar's Minister of Energy Saad Al Kaabi.
The expansion of the largest LNG project in the world, North Field East (NFE), was announced by Qatar in June. The French company TotalEnergies and the Italian Eni will each contribute 25% of the project's total funding.
