Hegseth's deadline is set for 5:00 PM on February 27.

Anthropic's leaders previously mentioned their intention to include "barriers" in their AI model to stop Claude from being utilized for harmful or unethical activities.  Hegseth criticized the company's position.

He mentioned that when Boeing sells technology to the Pentagon, the company does not tell the military how to use its aircraft, and he believes the same rule should apply to artificial intelligence.  The Pentagon stated that the use of these technologies would already be limited by existing US laws.

According to reports, government officials are looking into the possibility of using the Defense Production Act to get Anthropic to work with them.  Officials are skeptical about the company's dependability and are thinking about labeling it as a "supply chain risk." This designation would likely prevent the company from being included in government contracts.
