According to a Nestlé spokesperson speaking to The Wall Street Journal, the decision was made after evaluating its membership in different organizations.
"Nestlé routinely evaluates its affiliation with outside organizations," the spokesperson stated. "We have chosen to terminate our membership in the Dairy Methane Action Alliance."
This global organization was formed at the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai by the non-profit human rights group Environmental Defense Fund. Nestlé was a key founding member of the coalition, together with other significant companies like Kraft Heinz, Starbucks, Danone, and General Mills.
Nestlé does not reveal data on methane emissions. The firm had earlier stated that its overall greenhouse gas emissions in 2024 would decrease by 20% compared to 2018 figures.
