Nestle's net profit grows by 38.2% in 2021

Nestle SA, one of the world's biggest food and beverage makers, saw its net profit rise 38.2 percent to 16.9 billion Swiss francs ($18.3 billion) in 2021, the company said in a report.



Diluted earnings per share were 4.42 Swiss francs ($4.77) compared with 4.29 francs ($4.63) a year ago. Revenue rose 8.3 percent to 87.088 billion francs ($94.1 billion).

At the same time, the company points out that organic sales growth in 2021 was 7.5%. "By product category, coffee made the largest contribution to organic growth, helped by the strong momentum of the three major brands Nescafé, Nespresso and Starbucks," the company notes.

Sales in the Americas fell 0.6% to 33.779 billion francs ($36.5 billion) for the year, while the AOA (Oceania, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa) region grew 0.02% to 20.735 billion francs ($22.4 billion). Sales in EMENA (Europe, Middle East and North Africa) rose 4 percent to 21.128 billion francs ($22.8 billion).

The company said it plans to buy back 10 billion francs ($10.8 billion) worth of shares in 2022.
