It's just a different world," Musk said in an interview on a video conference hosted by the Wall Street Journal.
The entrepreneur added that a large number of Chinese authorities have grown up with the feeling that the country's economy is "small" and the PRC has been "treated unceremoniously".
At the same time, Musk stressed that electric car manufacturer Tesla, of which he is the founder, has good relations with China.
"I don't want to make it seem as if I support everything China does, nor will I say I support everything the US or any other country does. All in all, I think we are moving towards an interesting and new world. We should remember that we are all human beings," he said.
