Lufthansa and Latvia invest €28 million to airBaltic

The procedure for drawing in a strategic investor to the Latvian national airline airBaltic has been successfully finalized, all transaction paperwork has been signed, and the required formalities have been fulfilled, according to the airline's website.

“The total investment in the airline, which includes the previously disclosed joint investment by the Latvian state on identical terms and the Lufthansa Group's contribution, now totals €28 million,” the press release states.

It has also been reported that the airBaltic Supervisory Board will be increased to five members in the next phase. It will feature Alexander Feuersänger (Lufthansa Group) and Ruta Amtmane. The term of service for the new members of the Supervisory Board will commence on the day that the rise in airBaltic's share capital is recorded in the Latvian Register of Enterprises.

The supervisory board chairman, Andrei Martynov, along with board members Jurgis Sedlenieks and Lars Tusen, will proceed with their roles.
