According to a statement from the International Air Transport Association, the amount of passenger air travel worldwide climbed by 76.2 percent in terms of yearly growth in June (IATA).

Domestic passenger air traffic increased 5.2 percent, but international passenger air travel alone grew by 229.5 percent in June.

IATA reports that the Middle East (216.8%) and Europe experienced the highest annual growth rates (155.1 percent). North America (39.2% percent), Latin America (74%) and Africa (97.1%) all saw increases. The least increase in passenger traffic growth was seen in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), growing by only 33.7%.

The group predicted that the loosening of coronavirus limitations in APAC would give the global air passenger business a fresh boost.
