G7 to help Ukraine rebuild agricultural infrastructure

04/24/2023 - 03:15

G7 agriculture ministers have decided to assist Ukraine in demining farmland and repairing infrastructure that has been devastated.

G7 leaders met for two days with representatives from the UN FAO, the World Food Programme, the OECD, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development in the Japanese city of Miyazaki.

"We stand ready to support Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction, including sharing of experience, knowledge, and expertise for demining agricultural land and rebuilding agro-infrastructure," states a joint statement released at the conclusion of the conference.

As mentioned, the renovation will include warehouses, irrigation systems, and food production machinery.

Additionally, efforts to promote Ukrainian farmers' access to financing and production resources, as well as the digitalization of technology, will continue. The international organizations will also offer support in these areas.
