“Syria is at a decisive point in its history - a moment of genuine potential to transition from a history characterized by conflict to a future grounded in peace, stability, and optimism,” stated Dubravka Šuica, EC Member for the Mediterranean.

She is presently in Syria. The EC statement mentions the backing of Syrian state institutions with assistance from foreign experts, including those from the Syrian diasporas. Support will be given in fields like energy, education, health, and agriculture.

The EU's strategy for Syria also involves advancing transitional justice, combating impunity, upholding human rights, and probing into missing individuals.

The EC stated, “The Commission is working to integrate Syria into various important initiatives with Mediterranean partner nations, such as the Erasmus+ education program and the forthcoming New Pact for the Mediterranean, which focuses on enhancing cooperation and collaboration in the region.”
