The EU fears that Russia could cut gas supplies in response to Western sanctions if the conflict in Ukraine escalates, the FT reported.

In this connection, according to the newspaper, the EU plans to send a delegation to Azerbaijan to organize the supply of gas in the event of an emergency situation.

At the same time, according to the source, Brussels is holding talks with some Asian countries about possible deliveries of liquefied natural gas.

Official representative of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan previously stated that Baku was studying the possibility of expanding gas deliveries to the EU countries.
