During a briefing in Brussels on Monday, the spokesperson called on all parties to stop all fighting right away, fully carry out the agreed de-escalation steps, and make sure civilians are protected.

He emphasized that a genuine and inclusive transition in Syria must include the full integration of all civilian and military groups from the Kurdish autonomous region in the northeast of the country into the national institutions, along with the safeguarding of Kurdish rights.

El Anouni also expressed support for Syria's renewed commitment to fight terrorism as part of the international coalition.

On Sunday, after a period of fighting, the Syrian government and the SDF agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire across all areas affected by the conflict. Under the new agreement between Damascus and the SDF, the SDF units will eventually be incorporated into the Syrian armed forces.
