These €50 million in emergency loans are among several other additional measures. Marta Kos, the Commissioner for Enlargement, stated, "We are looking at every available option to support Ukrainians."

Brussels noted that the total EU funding allocated for emergency gas purchases for Ukraine during the winter of 2025-2026 is €977 million. The European Commission states that Naftogaz is also dedicating an amount equal to this funding towards renewable energy and decarbonization initiatives.
