Bumble founder becomes the youngest female billionaire

Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of the dating service Bumble, increased her fortune to $1.6 billion after the company's IPO, according to Forbes. Thus, she became the youngest woman whose fortune exceeds $1 billion. She is 31 years old.

Whitney Wolfe Herd owns 11.6% of Bumble. The company's stock started trading on the Nasdaq on Thursday. The share price was up 77% to $76 at the open.

Ms. Herd was formerly one of the executives and founders of Tinder. She left the company in 2014 and sued her former boss. She accused him of making threats.

Bumble differs from other services in that only women can text first. The co-founder of the dating service is Andrey Andreyev, a Russian billionaire and the creator of Badoo. Mr. Andreyev went out of business in 2020.
