Brandstätter, who previously held the post of chief operating officer of the brand, will succeed Herbert Diess, who has been combining management of the Volkswagen brand and the eponymous concern with all its subsidiary brands since 2018.

Thus, Diess will have more opportunities to fulfill his duties as the head of the German automotive concern, according to Volkswagen’s press release.

“Ralf Brandstätter is one of the most experienced company executives. Over the past two years, he has successfully managed Volkswagen as a COO (Chief Operating Officer, Chief Operating Officer) and has played a key role in developing the brand’s transformation.”

Volkswagen stock quotes rose 1.6% during trading on Monday. Since the beginning of the year, the company's capitalization has decreased by 8.1%.
