This is a reduction of 31.4% from the same time previous year. Analysts predict that if these trends persist until the end of the year, venture capital investment in China might reach a record low not seen since 2016.

According to experts, the major causes of this predicament are China's economic downturn and a drop in foreign investment during tense times with the US and Europe.

Some American investors shunned China for a variety of reasons, including the country's slowing economy and pressure from Chinese officials on the technology sector, PitchBook researchers note.
