452 bankruptcies were reported in the country during the eight-month period, which was lower than the 466 recorded in the corresponding period in 2020 and the 604 in January-August 2010.

These companies include SunPower Corp., a solar energy technology provider whose stock is publicly traded, Avon International Operations Inc., a seller of perfume and cosmetics, and SQRL Service Stations LLC, a gas station and convenience store operator.

"In the report, S&P stated that American businesses are still encountering various obstacles in 2021, such as elevated interest rates and geopolitical instability."
