The administration of US President Joe Biden will allot $15.5 billion to retool plants in order to expand the nation's production of electric cars, reads a statement issued by the US Department of Energy's press office.

The agency, according to the paper, "announced $15.5 billion in funding and loans primarily for the retooling of existing plants to transition to electric vehicles."

These actions, according to the Energy Department, are intended to increase production of batteries, battery raw materials, and "components currently imported from other countries."

In the past, Biden has expressed his belief that the implementation of his plans to increase energy efficiency and gradually phase in renewable energy will result in the creation of millions of new jobs for Americans. More than 500 000 electric vehicle charging stations should be built in the US, according to the President, who also called for the creation of favorable conditions to encourage residents and federal agencies to switch to this mode of transportation.
