UN: Over 8,200 civilians killed in Ukraine in one year

The number of civilian deaths in Ukraine has been updated according to statistics from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The statistics shows that between February 24, 2022, and March 12, 2023, there were 8,231 fatalities and 13,734 injuries.

3,664 men, 2,173 women, 260 boys, 203 girls, as well as 31 children, and 1,900 adults—the gender of whom could not yet be determined—died after Russian forces invaded Ukraine.

3,638 males, 2,471 women, 413 boys, and 295 girls are among those injured. There are currently 6 646 injured people and 271 children whose gender is unknown.

3,762 people were slain and 5,289 people were injured in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. 632 people were killed and 2,247 injured in areas under Russian control.

The majority of civilians suffered as a result of explosive weapons with a variety of impacts, according to the UN. The organization emphasized that the actual fatality numbers could be significantly higher.
