Toyota, one of Japan's largest carmakers, has once again announced the suspension of production at 19 lines in 11 plants inside the country due to the coronavirus, as well as a partial shortage of components.
According to the company’s press release, operations will be halted on 25 and 26 January.

"We are notifying you of an additional suspension of production lines at the plants in January due to a shortage of semiconductors amid identified coronavirus infections at local supplier companies, as well as a schedule of production suspensions at the lines in February," the statement reads.

In addition, a schedule of production suspensions at a number of lines of six plants in February has also been made public.

Previously, Toyota suspended production on 21 lines at 11 plants on 21, 22 and 24 January. As noted by Japanese media, the total production volume at Toyota's plants may be 65,000 units less than the initial plan by the end of January.
