The UK will soon be home to a factory that will make batteries for electric vehicles, Indian industrial powerhouse Tata Group announced.

"Tata Group is constructing one of Europe’s biggest battery manufacturing sites in the UK," The Economic Times quoted Mr. Chandrasekaran. "Our multi-billion dollar investment will bring cutting-edge technology to this country and help ensure that the British automotive sector shifts to electric mobility."

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak referred to the choice of the Indian firm to establish a facility in the United Kingdom as a "vote of confidence". The Tata Group, which controls Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has never undertaken a project of this nature outside of India. The British government's top official remarked that the start-up of one of the biggest jobs-creating projects of its kind in the British Isles will aid in the nation's move to electric vehicles and generate thousands of new jobs.

The plant will manufacture batteries for Jaguar and Land Rover's new line of electric vehicles, according to the CEO of Tata Sons. Its construction is expected to cost $5.2 billion.
