He also said that this week several thousand invitations to the beta version of Starlink will be sent in the United States and Canada.

The test version of the satellite network, which provides broadband Internet access, was launched in the northern states of the U.S. and southern Canada on 26 October 2020 at a price of $99 per month, plus a one-time $499 fee for receiving the necessary equipment to install.

Mr. Musk said that European countries will have access to the service as soon as the approval of European regulators is obtained - he expects a decision in February or March 2021.

Users of the beta version launched in the US reported data transmission rate of 160 Mbps, although initially the developers called for speeds between 50 and 150 Mbps. It is not known at this time how many people will take part in Starlink's beta version.

Earlier Musk said that over 700 thousand Americans were interested in the project.
