Microsoft: all our events will be held online until July 2021

Microsoft has officially confirmed transfer of all of its upcoming events in the online format until July 2021. This decision is related to the coronavirus pandemic, as a result of which most companies are forced to comply with quarantine requirements and work remotely.

“In light of the problems caused by Covid-19, we are adjusting our calendar of events and strategy. For the remainder of 2020, we will experiment with new platforms to provide our partners, customers and developers with the highest quality and first-class digital technologies,” Microsoft representatives wrote.

Switching to online events until July 2021 means that the company may not appear on GDC or E3 next year. Indeed, even in the "early stages" of coronavirus, large publishers refused to participate in E3, preferring instead to conduct their own events in digital format. On the other hand, the upcoming Gamescom international exhibition, scheduled for August, is still valid, and it is likely that the pandemic situation will change for the better by fall.
