Japan to give Ukraine $300m as humanitarian aid

The Japanese government has decided to give Ukraine an additional $300m loan for humanitarian needs.

This was reported by the Japanese TV channel NHK.

According to the channel, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will officially announce the new aid package during US President Joe Biden's visit to Japan next week.

On 17 May, Japanese authorities and the Ukrainian government signed an agreement on a $100m loan.

This amount was supposed to be part of the $300m aid package. With the new amount, Japan's total aid to Ukraine will amount to over $600m.
