According to The Wall Street Journal, American Internet behemoths Meta and Google have mandated that staff apply for transfers to different positions at the companies within specific time frames: 60 days in Google, and 30 days in Meta. Both businesses are trying to reduce their expenses, which includes using this method of hiring screening.

According to the newspaper’s interlocutors, the parent firm of the social networking site Facebook is trying to reduce expenses by at least 10%. Current and former managers with knowledge of the situation claim that the corporation has started surreptitiously laying off a large number of workers while rearranging departments and offering workers a short window of time to seek for other jobs.

The newspaper's sources point out that while personnel cutbacks will account for the majority of the savings, some will come from reducing overhead and consulting spending.
