02/29/2016 - 16:01

This week, Geneva opens its doors to the first major European auto show this year. At the Detroit Motor Show, producers were trying to capture imagination of the visitors by intelligent autonomous control technologies. Geneva, in contrast, will present several powerful SUVs and sports cars from leading luxury manufacturers.

Many observers have already called the forthcoming show a showcase of the latest achievements of luxury vehicles, brought to life thanks to falling oil prices without much regard for fuel economy. Aston Martin will present a new generation of its iconic DB line - DB11. The car, which may become the next James Bond’s chariot, will have a 5.2-liter turbocharged V12 engine with capacity of 600 liters. Silhouette of the new Aston Martin has already glimpsed in the last movie about the superspy, where he rode DB10 model, created specifically for the actor. There were just ten DB10s, as the producer lay its main hopes on DB11, which should be in great demand, even despite of its price of $ 200 thousand.

Another premiere of luxury products will be Maserati’s first SUV - Levante. The four-wheel drive car comes as standard with the V6 turbocharged engine; V8 with capacity of 450 liters will be available as well. The price of the new luxurious SUV will be officially announced at the Geneva Motor Show, and is expected to be not less than $ 80 thousand. British Jaguar will present its fastest stock car. F-type SVR with a 5-liter V8 can accelerate to 320 km/h. SVR differs from normal F-type by lesser weight, more powerful engine and improved suspension. The scope of the features makes the car the champion of its brand. However, the fastest car at Geneva Motor Show will be present neither by British nor by Italians. Bugatti will present the long-awaited replacement to Veyron. The new generation of supercars Chiron received the name in honor of the Bugatti team pilot Louis Chiron, who won more than one Grand Prix in 1920-1930-ies for his team. It is reported that Bugatti Chiron’s maximum speed is 450 km/h, which is 20 km/h more than Veyron’s. The cost of the new supercar will be start from $ 2 million.

However, not only to millionaires can find something interesting at the Geneva Motor Show. Honda will present Civic’s prototype in hatchback, and Volvo - V90 wagon. The latter took many of its features from the best-seller XC90, which allowed the Swedish brand to finish last year with a shock profit. French Renault will present in Geneva revived model Alpine, sales of which should begin next year. The sports car at a price of € 50 thousand will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine producing 220 hp. s., and accelerate to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Japanese Toyota will introduce a new compact crossover C-HR. Some analysts believe that its design will make the car «Nissan Juke’s killer". Earlier, Toyota presented only concept of this model, but promised to reveal the complete model in Geneva. Depending on the complication, C-HR will be equipped with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Experts believe that in the case of a reasonable pricing policy, the new Toyota could compete not only with extravagant Nissan Juke, but with other compact crossovers - Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 – as well.
