The expected rise is attributed to better outlooks for the coarse grain crop. “The revised estimate indicates that global coarse grain output will hit 1 billion 601 million tonnes, representing an increase of 36.1 million tonnes since July and 88.6 million tonnes (5.9%) above the previous crop year,” the review states.
This change is primarily attributed to a notable rise in corn output in the United States. Furthermore, maize harvest projections increased in Brazil and Mexico, whereas the EU harvest estimates were reduced because of arid conditions.
The FAO projects worldwide wheat output to reach 804.9 million tonnes, marginally below the July estimate but increasing nearly 6.9 million tonnes from the previous year.
