"Today's vote is a significant procedural move and a political message that the EU honors its commitments," stated European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis during parliamentary discussions.

Prior to the community's implementation of the tariff agreement with the United States, it must receive approval from EU nations. As reported by Reuters, this will take place no earlier than April or May.

In July of last year, the US and the EU established a trade agreement that imposes a 15% tariff on European goods sent to the United States. The EU consented to tax-free imports of American products, increased investment in the nation, and ensured demand for US energy and defense supplies.

Another provision in the pact relates to energy: the overall worth of extra supplies to the EU will total, as stated by the US President, around $750 billion.
