The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) opened just over a week prior to COP27 in Egypt, when officials from almost 200 countries will participate in the most recent round of climate discussions.

"Our capacity for both production and refining is growing, both here and in the UAE. We, along with the UAE, intend to become model producers of hydrocarbons while also achieving all of the Sustainable Development Goals," the Saudi energy minister declared.

Although the kingdom is attempting to minimize emissions and enhance output from renewable or less polluting energy sources, he is adamant that oil will continue to be "the cornerstone of energy supply."
