The energy industry was responsible for around 87% of total CO2 emissions, equating to 35.806 billion tonnes, showing growth rates comparable to the general statistics.

At the same time, the worldwide energy supply in 2025 surpassed 600 EJ, marking a 1.7% increase from 2024.

Renewable energy sources significantly boosted the energy supply volume (ESV), rising by 10% compared to the previous year. The reference book indicates that in 2025, the primary driver of ESV growth outside of a recession was not coal, oil, or gas.

In 2025, the Asia-Pacific area was still be the largest emitter globally, responsible for 54% of total energy emissions—19.2 billion tonnes of CO2. China's contribution to the group stands at 11.22 billion tonnes, reflecting a 0.7% increase.
