In order to continue Israel's natural gas exports to Europe via Egypt's LNG export infrastructure, the EU, Israel, and Egypt inked a trilateral memorandum last June.

Simson told the agency at an energy conference in Cairo, "We hope that with this MoU will be able to sustain the relatively high levels of LNG it provided to Europe last year."

The commissioner pointed out that the MoU does not specify how much LNG Israel must send in detail. Of course, it is up to Israel to choose how much of its exports it is willing to make, she noted.
